SSRA Basic and Advance Referee Course 2016

SSRA will be looking to hold a full day refereeing course for both Basic and Advance referees.

Venue: Spex House (Behind Kallang MacDonald)

24th and 25th June, 10am to 5pm
Basic Refereeing Course and Advance Referee Seminar (Packed together)
Venue: Spex House (Behind Kallang MacDonald)
Cost: $60 per pax (Lunch provided)

Basic course participants will go through teachings and a theory test. After which, those who passed will have the opportunity to clock mandatory hours to qualify for the Certification of a Local squash referee.

Advance course is a 
Seminar. You will be refreshed and equipped with some new updates of WSF refereeing rulings. There will not be any form of accreditation for attending this seminar. It is highly recommended that you sit through the Basic referee course before attending the Advance refereeing Seminar.

SSRA-ACS(I) Primary School Squash Championships 2016

3 May update:

The fixtures are released for your reference. Do take note of the following:
  • You may have more than 1 match a day
  • Saturday 21 May, there are NO matches due to ACS(I) being closed for a function
  • Parking regualtions in ACS(I) must be adhered to or risk wheels being clamped. There are alternate parking opposite the school (Multi story carpark)
  • Eye Wear is mandatory for all players
  • There shall be no postponement of matches
  • Prize presentation will be held on 22nd May (Individuals) and 27th May (Team)

The annual Squash event for the local/international schools is now open for registration.

Period: 18 to 22 May (Individual event), 26 to 29 May (Team event)
Players are to be 12 years of age and below.
Do take note of the following days:

  • 21 May is a public holiday (Vesak Day). There will be no matches.
  • 28 May ACS(I) will be having a school wide function. There will be no matches.

Tournament rules can be downloaded for your retention.

Team event entry form to be downloaded and submit to separately by team captain. There are NO entry fees for team event. Refer to the form for rules and eligibility.

Job Description

General Description of Duties
The Events Executive will be responsible for delivering a diverse annual calendar of events for the SSRA.  Additionally, this position is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and public relations plans, and maintenance of the SSRA web portal.

This position also facilitates in relationship development for sponsorship/business arrangements, between individuals and organizations interested in supporting SSRA’s events and activities.   As such, the Events Executive will work in coordination on other projects as assigned by the General Manager to attract funding for the SSRA.

Reporting Relationship
Reporting to the General Manager.

Preferably 1 to 2 years’ experience in a paid special events, marketing and website management position.   Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, website and business development/relationship programs would be an advantage.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Planning, implementation and follow-up for all events and tournaments.
  • Develop and maintain event and volunteer databases.
  • Manage all aspects of volunteer committees and volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and acknowledgement.
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.
  • Responsible for the development and fulfilment of all events and marketing budgets.
  •  Responsible for prize and in-kind donation solicitations for each event.
  • Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfilment.
  • Cultivate and implement with the General Manager a business-based donor development program.
  • Supervise and coordinate with event vendors.
  • Annually develop and implement marketing plans and materials.
  • Write, submit and follow-up to ensure placement on press releases and stories to established contacts with local and regional media.
  • Maintenance of website.
  • Broaden social networking to benefit the organization.
  • Establish and expand merchandise opportunities.
  • Actively participate in staff committees as necessary and appropriate.
  • Other duties as directed and required.
Singaporean / Permanent Resident
Diploma/degree with a minimum 1 to 2 years related work experience, preferably with a non-profit organization but not necessary. Communication, marketing and/or public relations experience preferred.

Interpersonal and Written Skills
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to write a business letter, an article, and a press release.
Comfortable and competent in making presentations to groups.
Strong diplomacy and a good sense of humour are a definite advantage.

Technical Skills
Strong Project Management Skills
Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills and Abilities
Position requires demonstrated applied skills in word processing, website maintenance and other computer software, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and the ability to learn fund raising and web design management software. Ability to work independently without direct supervision in a small office environment is required.

6th SICC / Marigold International Jumbo Doubles Squash Tournament

Warmest greetings!

The Tennis & Squash Committee is pleased to invite you and your Club to participate in the 6th SICC/MARIGOLD International Jumbo Doubles Squash Tournament. This is the sixth year that The Singapore Island Country Club is holding this event. The event is scheduled on 22nd to 29th May 2016.

Please be informed that there shall be an “Open Category” and a “Veterans Category”. Please kindly note the format of play from the attached entry form. Essentially, we hope to give more matches to all participants and has adopted a format for the “Open Category” where there shall be group matches on 22nd to 26th May for local pairings. Foreign pairings shall play their group matches on 27th May. Participants are expected to play a minimum of 3 matches in the group stages. Do also note that participants will only play on one of the 5 proposed dates and are not expected to play on all 5 dates. Matches in the last-16 of the main draw shall commence from 27th May 2015.

Please note that the age of participants for the “Veterans Category” is 50 years old as at 22nd May 2016. Participants in this category are expected to start their matches from 27th May 2016.

We would like to seek your support in making the forthcoming 6th SICC/MARIGOLD International Jumbo Doubles Squash Tournament a success. Please do try to participate in the tournament.

You may also help us promote the tournament by circulating this email to other players whom you think may be interested to participate.

No entry fee is payable and players will have free entry to the welcome dinner and farewell lunch.

We hope to receive your entries soon as the closing date is 6th May 2016.  Please send your entries as early as possible so that the organizing committee can review the number of entries or should a change to the tournament format be necessary.
