Police honour NSF Squash Champion

S
amuel Kang had extra reason to celebrate the Chinese New Year, when he was crowned Sportsman of the Year during the Police Sports Association’s (PSA) Awards and Appreciation Night at Orchard Hotel held on 8 Feb 2011.

The award ceremony was held to recognise the achievement of the athletes and officials of the Police Sports Association (PSA). Beside Colours Awards and Long Service Awards, the most prestigious awards on offer were the Team of the Year, as well as Sportsman of the Year.
Samuel Kang, currently playing for the national squash team, was the clear winner in the Sportsman of the Year award due to his string of achievements in both local and international tournaments. Worthy of mention was the 2009 Australian Junior Squash Championship, where he emerged as champion, beating out youths from around the world to become the first Singaporean and Asian to win the prestigious tournament.

Samuel, when asked about his thoughts on being named Sportsman of the Year, said: “I’m delighted with the recognition given to me in getting the Sportsman of the Year award and hope to contribute more towards PSA Squash in the coming years.”
